On the afternoon of Sunday 27th September, I will join artists and researchers at The Art Station, Saxmundham, for their Garden Project Sharing Event, where I will talk about Plot and the recent exhibition at Asylum Studios.
As the exhibition Unearthed comes to a close, it is time to reflect on the conversations with visitors to better understand how the artwork has communicated the elements of Plot. The work tells a story that moves from overgrown land to clear soil, planting, and then harvesting produce, presented chronologically. In the centre of the gallery, a long length of canvas that had been buried under the soil at the Plot lay on the ground, with ceramic pieces rising from the rips and holes created by its underground degradation. Looking towards the autumn, hopefully when some much-wanted rain has fallen, the Iron Maidens will visit the Plot, each accompanied by shiny new metal detectors. By then, the potato beds will be fully harvested, providing areas that can be swept to uncover any buried treasure.

Preparations for Unearthed, an exhibition of artwork produced during the Plot project, are gaining momentum. The exhibition will be held at Asylum Studios, Bentwaters, Rendlesham, Suffolk and opens on 18th September 2026.
Work from the Fire Series is currently on show at Britten Pears Arts in the Summer Contemporary Exhibition, curated by Devi Singh. The show runs from Saturday 25 July – Sunday 30 August at Snape Maltings, Suffolk
Thrilled to be taking part in an event that includes the author Hettie Judah, who will discuss her latest book, and other artists Kasia Posen, Phil Robbins, Wendy Dobbs, Emma Johnson, Felicity Beaumont and Johan Don Daniel. We’ll all be talking about our work, which will be shown in the accompanying exhibition Colliding Worlds. At this time of year, working at the Plot on quiet early mornings is to be immersed in the dawn chorus and the sounds of the countryside. The soil, on which we rely for nutrients and support for plant growth, was also revealed to have its own soundtrack. Today, this was captured with the kind help of Jac Campbell and her highly sophisticated sound recording equipment. You can find out more about Jac’s work here. The sounds will be edited and will feature in an exhibition celebrating Plot, which will take place at Asylum Studios in September.

Two paintings, The Lie and How we Told it, and The Second Burn have been selected for the Britten Pears Summer Contemporary Exhibition, which takes place at Snape Maltings, Suffolk from Saturday, 25 July to Sunday, 30 August 2026.
As the first produce is harvested from the Plot, we welcome the second visitor to join the conversation on art, growing and food. Kimberley Foster is an artist, academic and researcher with a sculptural-object-based practice that focuses on the development and enactment of pedagogical art objects, questioning interpretation, touch, and encounter.

Paintings and ceramics from the Plot studio will be featured in Issue 10 of The Amphibian Literary and Art Journal, created and edited by the amazing Anna Potter. You can view more information about the publication here

Plot Progress. After a thorough dig, weed and rake, first early potatoes, spinach, parsnips and leaf beet have been sown or planted. April will see second early potatoes, runner beans and lettuce join the other vegetables. The rear of Plot, running parallel to the stream, is planted with several dahlia tubers to provide a brightly coloured backdrop.

The first guest to be welcomed to the Plot will be curator, runner and researcher Natalie Pace.
Natalie‘s practice is rooted in art and social change, spanning cultural production and arts development. For the last decade, she has focused on commissioning artists for whom site specificity and collaboration are integral to their work. The commissioning process often dovetails with her interest in creating social infrastructure for positive, collective ends. Thematically, Natalie explores personal, social and environmental health and wellbeing. She is currently exploring how the arts can offer meaningful contributions towards a more equitable food system. Read more about her time with Plot on our Guest page.

The painting Burning has been selected for In Proximity, an exhibition at Norwich Castle Museum & Art Gallery, supported by the East Anglia Art Fund. The show opens on 14th February and runs until 14th June 2026. January 2026
